Seaside Rendezvous

I used this to introduce the topic of seaside and holidays, there are also some useful collocations and some french which you are likely to hear in English. As I was teaching an intermediate teens class I just gave them the language as fixed phrases.

Seaside Rendezvous

Seaside - whenever you stroll along with me
You say will if you could but you can’t, I love you madly
A brand new angle, highly commendable, Seaside Rendezvous
Meanwhile, I ask you to be my Clementine
I'm merely contemplating what you feel inside
Let my imagination run away with you gladly

I feel so romantic, can we do it again
Can we do it again sometime, (ooh I’d like that)
This time of year, it's so fashionable,
Fantastic, c'est la vie mesdames et messieurs
And at the peak of the season, the Mediterranean ,

I feel like dancing in the rain,
(just keep right on dancing )
Can I have a volunteer
It's such a jollification as a matter of fact,
so tres charmant my dear
what a damn jolly good idea

Underneath the moonlight, together we'll sail across the sea
Seaside Rendezvous, so adorable,
You say you‘d have to tell your Daddy if you can
Reminiscing every night
We'll ride upon an omnibus and then the casino
Be your Valentino
Get a new facial, start a sensational
Meantime, I ask you to be my Valentine
Seaside Rendezvous, Seaside Rendezvous , Give us a kiss

Imagine - John Lennon

I used this one to introduce the idea of alternatives to íf' in conditionals. Can also be used to introduce the idea of dreams, utopia ....

"Imagine" – John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
Imagine all the people
Above us only sky
Living for today...
No hell below us
It's easy if you try

Imagine there's no countries
Nothing to kill or die for
Living life in peace...
And no religion too
It isn't hard to do
Imagine all the people

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
Sharing all the world...
I wonder if you can
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
No need for greed or hunger

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

The space race is over - Billy Bragg

I was looking for a song about travel and space but wanted something different from Space Oddity. (Again!) I found this one by chance, talks about dreams and disappointments too. I remember watching the moon landings and hearing all the promises and ...

When I was young I told my ..........

From Houston and Cape Kennedy
And I watched the Eagle landing
On a night when the Moon was ..........
And as it tugged the tides, I knew that deep inside
I too could feel its ..........

I lie in bed and dreamed I walked
On the Sea of Tranquility
I knew that someday soon we'd all sail to the ..........
On the high ..........  of technology
But the dreams had all been taken
And the window seats taken ..........
And 2001 has almost come and gone
What am I supposed to .......... ?
Now that the space race is over
It's been and it's gone and I'll never get to the ..........
Now that the space race is over
And I can't help but feel that we've all grown up too ..........

Now that the space race is over
And I can't help but feel that we've all grown up too ..........

My son and I stand beneath the great night ..........
And gaze up in wonder
I tell him the tale of Apollo
And he says "Why did they ever go?"
It may look like some empty gesture
To go all that way just to come ..........
But don't offer me a place out in ..........
Cos where in the hell's that at?
Now that the space race is over
It's been and it's gone and I'll never get out of my ..........
Now that the space race is over
And I can't help but feel that we're all just going ..........
